2 Simple Ways to Be Better at Assessment Centres

Hey Friends,

Today I talked to the lovely Haley from New Zealand who has got an assessment centre coming up at PwC.

She's super excited and also nervous, because she's never done one before, so she wanted to book a call with me and get some pointer before she does it next week.

On the call we talked about specific PwC stuff and things she could do to prepare, but I also mentioned 2 simple pieces of advice I often give.

Most people are scared of group discussions in assessment centres, more specificallly they are scared of 1 person talking over everyone else.

That one loud, brash person who won't give anyone else a chance to speak.

You're scared you won't get the chance to talk, or you won't be able to interrupt them.

And I want to tell it's OK to interrupt.

That's point #1

Just say:

"Excuse me... we're going to have to move on..."

"Sorry to interrupt... I just wanted to add..."

"That's a great point... shall we talk about the next question..."

After all.

You're at an assessment centre to win, to get a job.

Not to make friends.

Point #2

What's the best way to prepare for assessment centres by yourself?

Alot of people ask me this.

It's pretty simple actually.

Do Case Studies and practise presentations by yourself.

The more of these you do better.

You can get 3 case studies, answer sheets, walkthroughs and access to guides to the 7 Most Common Assessment Centre Exercises in our "Acing the Assessment Centre Bundle
